Maple Class
27th February 2013 After a well-deserved break, we have come back eager to learn about our new topic...SPACE! Our Space Corner is now up, full of all the fantastic things we made over the half term.
We are looking forward to finding out all about the first moon landing and have thought of lots of questions we would like to ask our special visitor next week, such as: "How many stars are there in the universe?" "How fast do rockets go?" "How many people have visited the moon?"
13th February 2013 We have really enjoyed this topic and have learnt a lot about the Arctic and Antarctic. We have worked hard in all our subjects, creating beautiful pieces of art work and writing 'shape poems', we were very proud to put our work on display! 28th January 2013 This term our topic is 'Cold and Winter' and what better weather to arrive - SNOW! We have had lots of fun exploring outside, making snow statues, snow angels, building igloos and measuring the depth, last week it was 18cm!
We are back in school for a brand new year! We have already been working hard and Miss Holmes is very pleased with us. This term our topic is Toys: then and now. We have been finding out about how toys have changed over time and we even have our very own Toy Museum.
The Summer term has arrived! (where has this year gone?) Last term our topic was Space, we had fun learning lots of facts about space and particularly the first moon landing. To replace our Winter Wonderland, we had our very own 'Space Corner', and we made lots of things to go inside it.
This term our topic is 'Growing and Minibeasts.' We have been finding out all sorts of things about minibeasts and have been looking particularly closely at the honeybee and its life cycle. During Fun-filled Friday's we went on a minibeast hunt to see if we could find out about their habitats and why each creature lived there. We found all sorts of creepy crawlies hiding in different places...
SPRING TERM: This term our topic is 'Cold and Winter.' This is one of our favourite topics and we have lots of exciting things planned! We have started to find out about the Polar Regions and the animals that live there.
There has been lots of exciting art work going on this week, take a look:
Winter Wonderland!
This week, a Winter Wonderland has gradually appeared in the corner of our classroom. We have made lots of things to add to it:
We really enjoy going in there, reading books and just chilling out!
There are lots of non-fiction books in the basket and we are looking forward to finding out more about the Arctic and Antarctic - the environment, the animals and their habitats and how we can protect the wildlife.
Every other Friday, we are going to be venturing outside the school. We must wear old clothes and wellies as there is a good chance we are going to get really dirty! We are really looking forward to Fun-filled Fridays and all the exciting things Miss Holmes has planned for us. On Friday 13th, we all went for a walk. It is a good job we had our wellies on as we had to walk through two different streams...
We all had our Winter booklet and we were on the look out for lots of different things including: nests, birds, dreys and even...poo!
With a lot of puff, we made it up to the top of the hill where we had a fantastic view of the school. One child even said "let's just sit back and admire the view"...so we did!
Watch this space to find out what else we get up to...
