Hazel Class
Welcome to a new year in Hazel Class. We have settled in well and are trying hard to work more independently. We are beginning to do joined up handwriting but it is a bit tricky! Our First topic is the Second World War and it is the most brilliant, fantastic topic ever. We have brought in lots of books, magazines, posters and special things from our families like medals to help with our learning. We have also had visits from people who lived through the war. We enjoyed listening to them and asking questions and it really helped us understand. Thank you for coming in to see us.
In Science we have been learning about light and shadow. On one of the really hot days we went outside and drew round our shadows it was great fun. We have also learnt French with Miss McCabe. We know Bonjour, Comment ca va and we can count to twelve (douze).
We think Year 3 has been brilliant and amazing so far. Come back and see the exciting things we will be doing next half term......
Welcome back to the new half term.
Right at the start of this half term, we went to visit St Leonard's Church. Reverend Rogers was very kind and let us have a good look around at everything. We did some sketches and some rubbings. We had a great time and thought that the Church was very interesting, especially the graves and all the different pictures.
Our new Science topic is conductors and circuits. We really enjoyed making circuits with bulbs, batteries and wires. We also did an investigation about conductors - we found out that metal conducts electricity really well. We will be starting Celtic Art soon and we will have some great pictures on our page for you to see.
EXCITING NEWS! we have been given our parts for the fantastic pantomime at Christmas. It is Aladdin this year and we can't wait to start rehearsals - we have to learn our words really quickly. Some of us are narrators, we all have a speaking part and are going to be dressing up - there will photos of that too! Four of the boys will be dressing up as girls - they are going to be brilliant!!
Welcome back after Christmas to a new term
The pantomime was great, if you watched it we hope that you enjoyed it. Everyone was brilliant and we can't wait for next year to have the main parts. We think it's going to be Cinderella.....
We really enjoyed our outdoor days last term, we had great fun and some of us got really muddy! We will be doing some more outdoor days this term.
We all loved the Christmas activities, especially watching the Snow White pantomime at the Palace Theatre, the Christmas bauble competition, the Christmas lunch, the party and disco and finally the Carol Service at St. Leonards.
This term we are all very excited about beginning our swimming lessons with Year 1. Our first Science topic is going to be solids, liquids and gases. We are looking forward to all the investigations especially the melting and freezing. Miss McCabe is going to be teaching us Spanish too.
We hope you all had a great Christmas - we all did. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
We are nearly at the end of another half term. We have been enjoying our swimming lessons and can't wait for this week when we have our lesson at the new Abbey Stadium. We have been learning Spanish with Miss McCabe we can count up to ten. We have got our learning partners - we have them for 3 weeks, we are learning to listen to one another and respect their views.
On Thursdays we go outside and we have made bird baths, fat balls and looked for sticks and leaves. We are looking forward to going outside the school grounds now that Mrs Woodbine has done her First Aid training.
We had a great Chinese New Year assembly and also enjoyed the Oak class assembly.
Today we are excited about the SNOW!!!! We made snowmen outside at playtime. We are also pleased to see Mrs Sweeney back.
